As a Black woman in the professional world, I often find myself in spaces where I am the only person who looks like me. This makes sharing my achievements and successes on platforms like LinkedIn even more significant. I do it not to brag, but to break through stereotypes that often surround us.
It's essential to recognize that celebrating our accomplishments isn't about vanity or ego; it's about owning our narrative and rewriting the story. When someone suggests otherwise, I choose to respond with grace and resilience. I thank them for their kind words and say that my intention isn't to seek validation. It's to highlight the power of representation, to show that as a Black woman, I can and will achieve remarkable things. My journey is a testament to what's possible, and I'm here to uplift and support others on their paths to success.
Let's remember that sharing our achievements isn't just about us; it's about paving the way for others who may be hesitant or unsure. Keep posting about your accomplishments, keep shining your light, and keep taking the praise that comes with it--okay, that last bit was for me. I'm horrible at taking compliments...
